◉Project Profile

The Fair in the Square is a free community event held every Saturday afternoon in June in the UK. It is run entirely by volunteers and aims to benefit the local community. The event is a non-profit event and is generously funded by local sponsors. There are about 10,000 visitors each year. The fair features stalls, music and dance performances around the Pond Square and South Grove. It showcases local businesses, organizations and societies. It also hosts dog shows, fairground rides, music and drama events every year. The good weather and fair on Saturday bring people a good mood, free performances, desserts and coffee. This type of event is limited by venue size and funding and is well suited to a small truss stage.

The highlight of this traditional British charity event was the energetic performers on the small square stage that attracted everyone's attention.

◉Design Parameters

This project is located in Pond Square, London. As a charity event in a central area of the square, both venue space and funding are limited. The venue must accommodate 12 performers and small bands, necessitating a specially built stage truss. Though not large, this stage truss is the focal point for music and dance performances, providing sun and rain protection while ensuring the safety and performance quality for the performers.

◉Structural Design

1. Stage Dimensions: The stage measures 7.32 meters in length, 3.66 meters in width and stands 1 meter tall. The truss structure is slightly larger, measuring 7.76 meters in length, 4 meters in width and 5 meters in height,Nine pieces of 1.22 x 2.44 meter plywood were used.

2. Truss Features: The truss columns are stabilized with four diagonal braces, providing a higher ceiling. Guardrails are installed on the left, right and back sides, with the left guardrail being shorter to facilitate easy access on and off the stage.

3. Design and Safety: To protect against rain, we designed the trusses of the roof structure,after factory safety testing,allowing for quick assembly and disassembly to adapt to various event needs.

4. Materials: It is constructed from sturdy metal pipes and connectors, ensuring stability and load-bearing capacity.

5. Stage Surface: The stage floor is made of non-slip ＆water proof material, providing a safe performance environment for the artists.

6. Load-bearing Capacity: The stage supports the hanging of lighting, audio and display equipment. The maximum load-bearing capacity of the stage is 4.5 tons, ensuring high-quality audio and visual effects during the performance.

◉Material Selection

Given the budget and outdoor venue, the most economical and practical solution was chosen for the project. For the outdoor stage, a standard size of 1.22m x 2.44m is preferred. Indoors, a 1.2m x 1.2m stage is often used due to limited elevator space. For this event, nine stages were selected and arranged in a 3x3 configuration, covering an area of 7.32m x 3.66m. The truss chosen is the aluminum alloy S220, a square pin truss with a side length of 220mm. It consists of three columns (1m, 2m and 2m) with a total height of 5m, equipped with a sleeve block and top section for hoist installation, facilitating easy roof raising. Additionally, 16 column stabilizers are installed on the base.

◉Customer Evaluation

Although the whole stage is small, it has everything you need. It is the essence of the integrated stage construction system and is very suitable for small events. This type of product is very popular among organizers with limited budgets and limited space.
